Brigada do Mar is a Portuguese non-governmental development organisation (NGDO). It was formally set up in 2012, although it has been active since 2008, with the first coastal clean-up taking place in May 2009. The association's main aim is to decontaminate the coastline. We develop and implement actions and events aimed at protecting biodiversity, recycling-related activities and awareness campaigns to alert society in general to the scourge of marine litter, encouraging citizens to join Brigada do Mar individually or through their own organisation.
